To reach Stanpit Marsh Nature Reserve from Christchurch, the easiest and most enjoyable option is on foot, especially if you want to turn the journey into part of the walk.
From Christchurch High Street, head towards Christchurch Quay and follow the riverside path along the River Avon. Continue past the quay and towards the harbour, keeping the water on your right-hand side. The route is flat, scenic and clearly defined, passing open views and quieter stretches as you move away from the town centre.
After around 20 to 25 minutes of walking, you’ll reach the Stanpit area, where access points to the marsh are clearly visible from the path and nearby residential roads. From here, you can step straight onto the reserve and join the circular walking routes around the marshland.
If travelling by car from Christchurch town centre, drive east towards Stanpit, following local signage for Christchurch Harbour. Once in the Stanpit residential area, park considerately on nearby roads and access the reserve on foot via the signed entry points.
