About Poole and Parkstone Productions

P&P began in 1919 as the Parkstone Vocal and Instrumental Society and has grown into one of the best-known amateur performing arts organisations in the Bournemouth and Poole area.

The society produces several shows, plays and concerts each year, with performances regularly taking place at Lighthouse Poole, The Spire and the Barrington Theatre in Ferndown.

Performance Sections

Members can become involved in four principal sections:

  • Musical Theatre: Large-scale musicals and smaller cabaret-style productions
  • The P&P Singers: A mixed choir performing music ranging from classical pieces to pop
  • The Players: Drama, comedy, one-act plays and full theatrical productions
  • InSpire Daytime Voices: A relaxed, non-auditioned community choir for adults

Membership of Musical Theatre, The Singers and The Players normally requires an audition. InSpire Daytime Voices is open to adults without an audition.

Rehearsals

Musical Theatre rehearsals are generally held on Tuesday evenings, with additional Thursday or Sunday sessions when required. The Singers normally rehearse on Thursday evenings, while The Players usually meet on Wednesdays.

InSpire Daytime Voices rehearses on Tuesday mornings during term time, usually from 10.15am to midday. Current times should be checked before attending because schedules can change around productions and concerts.

Joining and Volunteering

The main performance sections normally accept adult members aged 18 and above, although applications from those aged 16 to 18 may be considered individually. InSpire Daytime Voices welcomes adults of all experience levels and offers a free first session.

P&P also needs volunteers to help with costumes, props, scenery, stage management, technical work and administration. Current subscriptions, auditions and production opportunities are listed on the official website.
