There’s a rather exciting new arrival heading to the Dorset coast this September - and it has one of the biggest names in British seafood behind it.

Acclaimed chef Nathan Outlaw is collaborating on Outlaw House, a new coastal brasserie, bar and boutique stay opening in Canford Cliffs, Poole.

Taking over the former Loch Fyne restaurant and hotel at 47 Haven Road, close to Sandbanks, the new opening promises relaxed coastal dining, great South West produce and the sort of place where you can settle in for lunch, stay for drinks – and even spend the night.

A little bit of Nathan Outlaw comes to Dorset

Nathan Outlaw has built his reputation around brilliantly simple seafood and an unwavering focus on quality produce, with his restaurants in Cornwall becoming destinations in their own right.

For Outlaw House, he has worked with the team to develop the menu, choose suppliers, establish the kitchen’s standards and mentor the culinary team.

He won’t be standing at the stove every night - Executive Chef Fergus Coyle will lead the kitchen day-to-day - but the food is very much being created around Outlaw’s approach.

And if the first dishes are anything to go by, Dorset foodies have plenty to look forward to.

So, what’s on the menu?

The idea is refreshingly straightforward: take some of the best ingredients from Dorset and the wider South West and let them do the talking.

Expect dishes including Dorset crab scones with lemon and radish, cider-battered gurnard with warm tartare sauce and peas, roasted bass with chargrilled leeks and spiced butter sauce, and St Clement’s cheesecake with blackberries and citrus curd.

The restaurant is also building direct relationships with local fishermen, farmers, growers, cheesemakers, vineyards and artisan producers, putting the people behind the produce firmly at the heart of the new concept.

Outlaw House describes its style as approachable, comfort-led cooking rather than anything overly theatrical - essentially, excellent ingredients cooked simply and very well.

More than somewhere for dinner

This isn’t just a restaurant.

At the centre of Outlaw House will be an all-day bar, designed for everything from a coffee after a clifftop walk to pre-dinner drinks and lingering evenings with friends.

Upstairs, boutique bedrooms will turn it into a proper coastal escape, with the rooms designed to feel relaxed and characterful rather than overly formal.

And with Sandbanks and the coast practically on the doorstep, we can already see the appeal of dinner followed by a night away - even if you only live down the road.

Why Canford Cliffs?

Outlaw House has been created by Stellar Hospitality Group, founded by long-term friends Salar Brock, Rob Hannaford and Thomas Edgcumbe.

Canford Cliffs will be the first Outlaw House, but it isn’t intended to be the last. The team has ambitions to develop a collection of hospitality destinations across the South West, each connected to its local community and regional produce.

The Dorset opening will also create around 40 new jobs across the restaurant, kitchen, bar and boutique rooms.

For the first location, Canford Cliffs feels rather fitting: coast on the doorstep, Sandbanks just along the road and access to some exceptional Dorset produce.

When is Outlaw House opening?

Outlaw House is due to open in Canford Cliffs in September 2026, with further details about the official opening and bookings expected shortly.

And this is one new Dorset opening we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on.

Seafood from one of Britain’s best-known seafood chefs, Dorset produce, a relaxed bar and boutique rooms near the coast? We suspect getting a table could become rather popular.
