Parking is available at the college, and the rehearsal room is located on the first floor. Prospective members should contact Luminos before attending because the choir currently has a waiting list.

About Luminos

Luminos is led by singer-songwriter and musical director Sammy Hurden. The group has around 100 members from different backgrounds and aims to combine enjoyable community singing with high-quality musical performances. Its name is connected both to the idea of singing bringing light into people’s lives and to its original home at Lighthouse Poole.

Music and Performances

The choir sings uplifting, soulful and sometimes challenging arrangements drawn from:

• Pop
• Folk
• Jazz
• Musical theatre
• Original compositions

Songs are taught by ear, although sheet music may also be provided for singers who prefer to use it. Luminos gives regular concerts and donates proceeds to different charities.

Who Can Join?

Luminos welcomes men and women who enjoy singing, with no auditions required. Members do not need previous choir experience or the ability to read music.

New members are normally welcomed in September when spaces become available.

Rehearsal Fees

Sessions currently cost £6 each, paid half-termly. Fees and joining arrangements may change, so new members should confirm the latest details directly with the choir.
